About University

Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUTCM) has its roots in the Hunan Chinese Medicine Specialty School established in 1934 and the Hunan TCM Vocational School founded in 1953. Between 1960 and the early 2000s, it was known as Hunan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The university as it is today was officially formed in 2006 after merging with the former Hunan University of Science & Technology and the Hunan Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a research-focused institution. HUTCM is primarily a teaching-oriented medical university, but it also plays a significant role in TCM research, healthcare services, and is recognized as one of China’s leading institutions in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

With over 70,000 graduates working in the medical field worldwide, HUTCM has become one of the first accredited medical universities in China to recruit international students, including those from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It also serves as a base for international cooperation in Chinese Medicine at the ministry level, having educated more than 1,000 degree students from over 20 countries and regions.

HUTCM has 18 schools, 24 undergraduate programs across fields such as Medicine, Science, Engineering, Management, and Arts, 16 affiliated hospitals, and 5 school-run enterprises. It also offers 27 doctoral programs, 56 master’s programs, and 2 post-doctoral mobile stations. The university currently enrolls more than 20,000 students and employs over 3,000 faculty members.

CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY:

  • The qualified applicant should be over 17-Year-Old.
  • The minimum marks of all subjects should be 60% or above.

Special Notes:

  • All the fee must be charged in RMB or according to the conversion rate on arrival in university.
  • Students will pay for stationary, electricity charges and water bill themselves.
  • Food expenses are approx 1000 RMB to 1200 RMB / Month.
  • Fee once paid will not be refunded. Student will follow the rules and regulations of the SU.
  • Pakistani & Indian Students will follow the Policy of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council & Indian Medical Council’s Policy Respectively.

About City:

Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, is located in the northeast of the province, along the Xiangjiang River. It borders Yichun and Pingxiang in Jiangxi Province to the east, Loudi and Yiyang to the west, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan to the south, and Yueyang to the north. Historically, Changsha has been a major grain production hub in China. As a center of intellectual activity, the city is home to more than 100 research institutions and engineering laboratories, with notable scientific achievements in hybrid rice breeding and the Tianhe supercomputer.

The Xiangjiang River, a key tributary of the Yangtze River, originates in the northern mountains of the Zhuang Autonomous Region in Guangxi and flows northeast into Hunan Province.

Once the main waterway for the province, the Xiangjiang River remained a vital communication route until the completion of the railway system in the 1930s. Large vessels from the Yangtze can still reach Changsha via the Xiangjiang.

For 13 consecutive years ending in 2020, Changsha has been recognized as one of the “Happiest Cities in China,” according to the China Happy City Forum.

Climate

In Changsha, the climate is warm and temperate. Changsha has a significant amount of rainfall during the year. This is true even for the driest month. Summer begins at the end of June and ends in September. The months of summer are: June, July, August, September. The most popular time to visit is August, September.
