About University:
The Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) is a prominent institution directly administered by the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China. It specializes in cultivating advanced talent in engineering, technology, and management within the civil aviation sector. Established in September 1951 as the Second Civil Aviation School under the Civil Aviation Administration of the Military Commission, the institution has undergone several name changes. It was renamed the Chinese Civil Aviation Advanced Aviation School in December 1958, became the Chinese Civil Aviation Mechanical College in June 1963, and was later renamed the China Civil Aviation Academy on August 10, 1981. Finally, on May 30, 2006, it adopted its current name, the Civil Aviation University of China.
CAUC is the only university in China that offers comprehensive disciplines designed to train high-level engineers, technicians, and management professionals in the aviation field. Over the past decade, the university has provided diverse educational and training programs to students from countries such as Australia, Russia, Nepal, and Sudan. These programs include language training, vocational skill development, and diploma education.
The university also awards annual scholarships to international students in recognition of academic excellence. It boasts a robust infrastructure, including two national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, one national virtual simulation experimental center, a national model engineering professional degree graduate joint training base, and a national engineering practice education center. Additionally, it features nine municipal experimental teaching demonstration centers and two virtual simulation experiment centers in Tianjin.
CAUC follows a talent-focused strategy and has produced numerous renowned experts and scholars in the civil aviation industry, both nationally and internationally. The institution has 1,068 full-time faculty members, including over 400 senior-level educators, 10 doctoral advisors, and several distinguished figures such as a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, a Tianjin professor, four Tianjin teaching experts, and nine young and middle-aged civil aviation technology leaders.
About City:
Tianjin, a major metropolis in northern China, is one of the five national central cities of the People’s Republic of China. It shares borders with Hebei Province and Beijing Municipality and is situated to the east along the Bohai Gulf, part of the Yellow Sea.
With the sixth-largest urban population in China, Tianjin’s urban area lies along the Hai River, which links to the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers through the Grand Canal. Known as the fifth-largest “city” in China by satellite observation, Tianjin is strategically located along this vital waterway.
Rich in natural resources, Tianjin boasts abundant reserves of oil, gas, salt, coal, and geothermal energy. Its fishing and salt industries have thrived since ancient times, complemented by a variety of agricultural specialties. Additionally, Tianjin is considered one of the birthplaces of modern Chinese industry, with a solid industrial foundation.
Historically a prominent commercial hub, Tianjin has grown into North China’s leading center for commerce, trade, and finance. As the largest coastal city and an economic hub open to the global market, it maintains trade relations with over 160 countries and regions worldwide. Tianjin also stands out for its cultural richness and advancements in science and technology. The city is home to 28 universities and colleges and more than 370 research institutions, employing over 500,000 professionals, which significantly contributes to its economic growth.
Today, Tianjin is the largest industrial base in northern China, with a well-established industrial ecosystem that includes chemical, mechanical, metallurgical, electronic, and textile industries. Key products such as automobiles, petroleum, steel pipes, and elevators hold substantial market shares across the country.
Climate:
Tianjin experiences a semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons, influenced by East Asia’s monsoon patterns. Winters are cold, windy, and very dry, shaped by the vast Siberian anticyclone, while summers are hot and humid due to the monsoon. Spring in Tianjin is characterized by dry, windy conditions, occasionally accompanied by sandstorms originating from the Gobi Desert, which can persist for several days.
The city’s average monthly temperatures range from −3.4 °C (25.9 °F) in January to 26.8 °C (80.2 °F) in July. Tianjin enjoys 2,522 hours of bright sunshine annually but receives relatively low annual precipitation, totaling just 511 millimeters (20.1 inches). Nearly 60% of this rainfall occurs during July and August. Located within the semi-arid zone, some parts of the municipality also exhibit characteristics of a humid continental climate.
