About City:

Located in southwestern China on the eastern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Guiyang serves as a vital transfer hub connecting major cities and the many ethnic minority villages scattered across the province. Historically, the city was surrounded by dense bamboo groves and gained fame for producing a musical instrument known as “Zhu,” giving rise to its nickname, Zhu.

Guiyang is celebrated for its vibrant culture, shaped by the traditions of over 30 ethnic minority groups, including the Miao, Buyi, Dong, and Hui communities. The city’s unique Karst landforms and rich folk traditions contribute to its colorful and dynamic cultural identity.

Nestled amidst mountains and forests, Guiyang boasts a picturesque environment. Known as one of China’s “Spring Cities,” like Kunming, it is a popular summer retreat due to its mild and pleasant climate. With warm, moist weather, the city offers ideal sightseeing opportunities in spring, summer, and autumn.

The local cuisine in Guiyang is famously spicy, bearing similarities to Sichuan and Hunan cuisines. The Miao people favor sour flavors, making the iconic “Fish in Sour Soup” a must-try dish for visitors.

Tourists often seek out souvenirs reflecting the region’s ethnic heritage, such as festival costumes, masks, and embroidery. These can be found in bustling shopping areas like Beijing Road, Zhonghua Road, and Yan’an Road. Guiyang’s residents are known for their late-night lifestyle, contributing to a vibrant nightlife scene. The illuminated Jiaxiu Tower is particularly enchanting and a highlight of the city’s evening attractions.

In Guiyang, the wet season is warm, humid, and mostly cloudy and the dry season is cold and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 36°F to 82°F and is rarely below 28°F or above 88°F.
