Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU) traces its origins to the Health School of Liaoji Military Region, established in 1946 during the War of Liberation. In 1949, the school relocated to Jinzhou, Liaoning Province. It became Jinzhou Medical College in 1958 and was later renamed Liaoning Medical University in 2006. The university excelled in the Ministry of Education’s teaching proficiency test the following year. In March 2016, with approval from the Ministry of Education, the university was officially renamed Jinzhou Medical University.

Over the course of 70 years, JZMU has evolved into a provincial medical university offering a broad range of educational programs across multiple disciplines. The university covers 915 acres and provides general higher education, adult education, vocational training, and international student programs.

In 1984, JZMU began offering master’s degrees. By 1999, it was authorized to grant master’s degrees in equivalent fields, and in 2003, the university began a joint Ph.D. training program with China Medical University, approved by the Ministry of Education. Currently, JZMU offers master’s degrees in 8 first-level disciplines, 59 second-level disciplines, and 4 professional master’s programs.

About City:

Jinzhou, located in the southwest of Liaoning Province, lies at the eastern end of the Western Liaoning Corridor. It has historically been the political, economic, cultural, and transportation hub of the region. In Jinzhou, the summers are long, warm, humid, wet, and partly cloudy and the winters are freezing, snowy, windy, and mostly clear. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 17°F to 84°F and is rarely below 7°F or above 90°F.
